Spiritism as the third Conceptual Synthesis (J.H. Pires based on Allan Kardec e Léon Denis)

“EVERY STAGE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION CLOSES WITH A SYNTHESIS OF ALL ITS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.” (J. Herculano Pires)

The author defines with great knowledge the meaning of the coming of the Spiritist Doctrine in the current stage of evolution of the planet, called by the Higher Spirits as a transitional period.

In the Gospel of Matthew (Mt.13, 24-30), we find the parable of the Wheat and Weeds, symbolizing the good seed planted by the humans in the fertile soil of their existence, under the auspices of the higher spirituality. The text below reproduces this process, which can be found in full in the Introduction to the Book of Spirits in its 100 years anniversary edition – 1957 – ed. Lake.

“INTRODUCTION TO THE SPIRITS’ BOOK”

With this book, April 18, 1857, Spiritism becomes known in the world.  The promise of the Comforter, the Paraclete or Spirit of Truth was carried out. To say this is to affirm that The Spirits’Book is the code of a new phase of the human evolution.  And this is exactly its position in the history of the thought.  This is not an ordinary book, which can be read overnight and then forget it in a corner of the bookcase.

Our duty is to study it and meditate on it, reading it and rereading it constantly. A whole building lifts up on this book: the Spiritist Doctrine. It is the cornerstone of Spiritualism, its starting point.  Spiritualism came with it and it was propagated and established in the world.  Before this book there was not Spiritualism, and this word did not even exist. People talk about spiritualism and neo-spiritualism in a general, vague and nebulous way.  Spiritist facts, that have always existed, were interpreted in many different ways.  But, after Allan Kardec advertised it, “containing the principles of the Spiritist Doctrine”, a new light shone in the mental horizons of the world.

There is a historical sequence that we cannot forget when we take this book in our hands. When the world was preparing to leave the chaos of early civilizations, Moses appeared as the leader of a population and was destined for tracing the lines of a new world: and from his hands the Bible emerged. Moses did not write it, but he was the main reason of this first new circle of revelations: the Christian.  Later, when the  influence of the Bible had already affected people, and when those people were scattered throughout the Gentile world, spreading the new law, Jesus appeared and from his words, the Gospel arose, written by his disciples.  The Bible is the encoding of the first Christian revelation, the Hebrew code that was merged into the sacred principles and the religious legends of ancient peoples. The greatest synthesis of the ancient world towards the spirit.  No wonder that many times it is presented to the modern man in a frightened and contradictory way.

The Gospel is the encoding of the second Christian revelation, the one which shines in the center of the triad of these revelations, having in the figure of Christ the sun illuminating the two others, which throws light on its past and future, establishing the necessary connection between both. But just as in Bible, the Gospel has already been announced, the prediction of a new code also appeared, the Spirit of Truth, as seen in John, chapter 14.14. And the new code came with Allan Kardec under the guidance of the Spirit of Truth, exactly when the world was preparing to enter a higher stage of development. “EVERY STAGE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION CLOSES WITH A SYNTHESIS OF ALL ITS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.”Cada fase da evolução humana se encerra com uma síntese conceptual de todas as suas realizações. A Bíblia é a síntese da antiguidade, como o Evangelho é a síntese do mundo greco-romano-judaico, e O Livro dos Espíritos, a do mundo moderno. The Bible is the epitome of the Ancient times, the Gospel is the Greco-Roman-Jewish synthesis, and The Spirits’ Book is the synthesis of the modern world. But each one does not bring only the results of progress made, but they also contain the seeds of the future. In the synthesis of the Gospel we have to consider, especially, the presence of Jesus, as a direct intervention from High to rearrange the thoughts of the Earth. It is thanks to this intervention that the evangelical principles are without the need of readjustments or modifications in its primitive purity, to the pages of this book, as the main support to build a new era.
